Lesson 4

teacher has taught us about method of creative thinking.
there is two type of creative thinking method which is, divergent thinking and another is convergent thinking.

Convergent thinking is a term coined by Joy Paul Guilford as the opposite of divergent thinking. It generally means the ability to give the correct answer to standard questions that do not require significant creativity, for instance in most tasks in school and on standardized multiple-choice tests for intelligence.
Divergent thinking is a thought process or method used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions. It is often used in conjunction with convergent thinking, which follows a particular set of logical steps to arrive at one "correct" solution. Divergent thinking typically occurs in a spontaneous, free-flowing manner, such that many ideas are generated in a random, unorganized fashion. Many possible solutions are explored in a short amount of time, and unexpected connections are drawn. Following divergent thinking, ideas and information are organized and structured using convergent thinking.
( taken by lecturer note)

Divergent thinking involves brainstorming, playing with the problem, looking for alternatives. Convergent thinking takes all the information and possibilities you have come up with and turns it into a solution. Most people are good at either divergent thinking or at convergent thinking, but usually not at both.

There are two type of mind mapping, Logical mind mapping and the other is associated mind mapping.
mr yap taught us logical mind mapping today and mr Radzi will explain the associated mind mapping next week.

Logical Mind Map
The Logical Mind Map is directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of solely stereotype words. Which means that every word or image that is put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject through its links.

A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals.
for an example given by a teacher, commonly,in people's mind, boy always has a short hair.

mr yap has also show an example of a logical mind mapping of Mortar & Pestle
the first step is to research on what is Mortar & Pestle
After that create a logical mind map of Mortar & Pestle, you should put all of the information you find and that made you understand about Mortar & Pestle in your mind map.
and the last step is to write a report on Mortar & Pestle.
